Challenge:

SOMS Technologies is a start-up company with a patented and innovative vehicle engine oil filtration technology called microGreen® extended performance oil filter. The filter decreases hazardous waste and dependence on natural resources and reduces oil maintenance costs for individuals and fleets. Licensed in 2008 and expanding ever since, SOMS Technologies was looking for a flexible and knowledgeable supply chain partner to accommodate its continuous growth. OHL provides SOMS Technologies with a complete end-to-end supply chain solution including customs brokerage, air and ocean freight forwarding, warehousing, and distribution.

Approach:

Since the filter was new and unique to U.S. Customs’ library, OHL presented a clear description of SOMS Technologies’ oil filter and obtained a tariff classification number to begin importation to the U.S. OHL handles all the customs clearances and Importer Security Filings (ISF), or “10+2” entries, for SOMS Technologies and provides air and ocean freight transportation and management from Hong Kong to the U.S. The products are stored in OHL warehouses and distributed throughout the U.S.
